The Habita chessboard is an object constructed slowly, with the same care reserved for unique pieces.
The base is made of solid wood, hand-painted with a satin finish that reveals the living material. Each piece of the set is handcrafted in Umbria: cut, shaped and painted by hand, using stainless steel and oxidised iron, worked one by one. Subtle differences between the individual chess pieces are a sign of the artisan hand that created them. The chessboard can be lifted to reveal a wooden compartment inside that holds the pieces neatly. The leather details with hand stitching and the steel finishes define a textured language consistent with the Herno aesthetic.
